Philodendron burle marx variegata
Total height: 30cm
Plant height: 18cm
Pot height: 12cm
Pot diameter: 11cm
The Philodendron belongs to the plant family of the Araceae. It is mostly native to the neotropical rainforests of the US state of Florida, Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean islands and tropical South America. Philodendron burle marx is named after Brazilian landscape architect, plant collector, and painter Roberto Burle Marx. Unlike many other Philodendron species, this rare species grows rather fast and bushy, turning any room into a real jungle. The rare Burle Marx variegata has elongated heart-shaped leaves of strong green with cream to light green variegation.
Care
This rare houseplant, just like other Philodendron species, feels most comfortable with bright, indirect light and increased humidity. Temperatures of 20° to 24° Celsius and an airy substrate are optimal. When the plant has grown taller, you can support it with a climbing pole to guide the climber.
The substrate should never dry out completely. It is best to water when the first few inches of soil are dry. This helps to avoid waterlogging and promotes healthy growth. How often you then actually need to water depends largely on the light, humidity, size of the plant and that of the pot.
