The fast-growing Philodendron species, also called tree friend, comes from tropical South America and belongs to the Araceae family. Philodendron jungle fever is a plant around which various information and rumors circulate on the Internet. It is said to be a hybrid of Philodendron pinnatifidum and Philodendron giganteum, but this could not be confirmed so far. It is also unclear whether Philodendron jungle fever and Philodendron green moss variegata are actually the same plant. There are differences in leaf coloration, however, some reports from growers state that these differences are only due to climate and circumstances. But one thing is clear in any case, this is a beautiful and very rare plant, which has a very special leaf pattern. The variegation can appear in green blocks or even speckles on the whitish leaves, so each new leaf is a real surprise.
Care
If this rare houseplant is looking for something to climb up, you should definitely provide it. This promotes healthy growth and beautiful large leaves, suitable are homemade climbing aids made of sphagnum moss or commercially available vine sticks for climbing plants. Temperatures between 20 ° and 25 ° and increased humidity are optimal for the rare Philodendron jungle fever, also pleased about bright indirect light. The substrate should be nice and loose and never dry out completely. To avoid waterlogging, it is recommended to water again only when the first centimeters of soil are dry. How often you then actually need to water depends largely on the light, humidity, size of the plant and that of the pot.
