Philodendron joepii
The Philodendron joepii belongs to the family of Araceae and was discovered in eastern French Guiana by Joep Moonen. The special leaf shape also caught his eye directly, at first he suspected that insects had eaten the tropical plant. But after a longer search he could find another Philodendron joepii in the region. To this day, it is believed that this rare plant species is almost extinct in the wild. What makes it a real privilege to be able to offer this rare houseplant a home.
Care
If this rare tropical plant is looking for something to climb up on, it should be provided promptly. This will promote healthy growth and beautiful large leaves. This also makes the Philodendron joepii feel at home. Homemade climbing aids made of sphagnum moss or commercially available climbing sticks for climbing plants are suitable. Temperatures between 20° and 25° Celsius as well as increased humidity are optimal for the rare Philodendron joepii, as they correspond to the rainforest climate. It also enjoys bright, indirect light. This is usually found in front of west or east-facing windows. The substrate should always be nicely loosened and never dry out completely. To avoid waterlogging, it is recommended to water again only when the first few inches of soil are dry. How often watering is actually necessary depends largely on light, humidity, the size of the plant and that of the pot.
